Hazelgrove Elementary in Surrey, BC reached out in need of a new athletic mark to replace their existing brand which had potential conflicts with copyrights. The new marks would be applied to student and staff apparel including hoodies, t-shirts, sweatpants and hats.
The new brand set needed to be instantly recognizable for younger students as well as be able to scale down for the smallest applications, such as hats, lanyards and badges.
Several mockup variations in the existing school colour system were presented, as well as alternate colour schemes. The final selected set features a two-toned wordmark centred by a stylized C in the shape of an active hurricane’s spiral. The bold and simplified typeface also allows for easy readability at the smallest sizes.
